Ron Holland is a forward on the G League Ignite. Holland is a consensus five-star prospect and was ranked as the No. 2 player in the Class of 2023. Holland was selected to the 2023 McDonald’s High School All-American Team and earned a spot on the U.S. Team for the 2023 Nike Hoop Summit. He was named the 2022-23 Gatorade Texas Boys Basketball Player of the Year after averaging 20.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.0 steals for Duncanville High School. COMPARISON
Ron has shades of RJ Barrett and could see a lot of playing time for a lottery team. He is too athletic and shown to many flashes for teams to simply look by him, similar to RJ when he came out of Duke. Ron could develop into a starting caliber wing, if given time, similar to RJ when he was on the Knicks.
Gianni’s Analysis
I always respect a G-League Ignite member because they choose NBA level competition at such a young age. Ron is one of my favorites in this draft class because of his explosiveness and NBA ready level game. That 3 point shot just hasn't been falling for him and if it was, he would be the number 1 prospect this class.
Holland will excel in the NBA off the catch, and if he is paired with an elite point guard who can make plays, Ron will benefit greatly. Ron attacks defenses and drives against weak defenders so well that the weaknesses he has may not show as much as you would think. At the next level, spacing matters and can be a difference maker that sets athletes apart, Ron will be able to exploit defenses and create open space.
He just needs the right coaching at the NBA level and a team that is willing to have patience. I could see him being a future 6th man of the year and having a good rookie season as the year progresses. He is extremely athletic and plays with such intensity. He gives the other team problems because of his speed, control and size that will translate well over in the NBA. The former Texas Longhorn commit made the choice to improve his game with the Ignite and has been showing incredible flashes in Vegas. He has to improve that 3PT shot, and his turnovers. No one in this 2024 NBA Draft Class is better in the open floor than Ron Holland. It will take time but Ron Holland has all the tools to become a great wing in the NBA.
