2026 Winter Olympics Preview

The Opening Ceremony has commenced and now the Winter Olympics are officially here. There are a lot of storylines to follow and great athletes to keep an eye on in Milan Cortina.
The first Gold Medal events begin on February 7th all the way up to the Closing Ceremony on February 22nd.
The first medal event will be February 7th at 5:30am EST. The event will be Men's Downhill Alpine Skiing.
232 Athletes will compete for the United States of America. Italy and Japan each have 196 athletes. 20 Athletes will be competing under a neutral banner.
For the past three Winter Olympics, Norway has led the medal table. The first and last time the United States led the medal count was in 1932.
Athletes To Watch:
Lindsey Vonn: Competing with a torn ACL.
Mikaela Shiffrin: Having one of her best seasons in the World Cup of Alpine Skiing opened
Sidney Crosby: NHL Legend competes in what may be his final winter games.
Chloe Kim: The Snowboarding legend goes for her 3rd Gold Medal in Women's Halfpipe.
Eileen Gu: She looks to defend all three of her medals that she won in Beijing.
Madison Chock and Evan Bates: The duo is one of the best in Skating
Scotty James: Will look to finish with a Gold in Snowboarding as he did at the '26 X-Games.
Wolfgang Kindl: Looks to go from Silver in 2022 to Gold in 2026.
Miho Takagi: Speed Skating legend will look to continue his record breaking from 2022.
